Residents of Kola Uttar Para village under Digholia Union in Lohagara upazila of Narail have been suffering for nearly four decades due to the dilapidated condition of the Kola–Noapara–Kuchiyabari connecting road.
The road, linking 10 villages across Digholia, Lakshipasha, and Mallikpur unions, serves as a vital route for farmers transporting their crops. However, since it was first brick-laid in 1978, no renovation has been undertaken, leaving it filled with potholes and nearly impassable.
Kola village, home to the highest number of freedom fighters in Lohagara upazila, remains neglected despite repeated appeals to local and national authorities. Villagers expressed frustration, saying that successive MPs and chairmen only offered promises but took no action.
Local resident and freedom fighter Abdul Halim Sheikh said, “It’s heartbreaking that the road in a village of our nation’s heroes has never been repaired.”
When contacted, Upazila Engineer Kazi Abu Sayeed Md. Jasim assured that steps would be taken within this fiscal year to include the road under a suitable project for full paving and reconstruction.
