


Local administration and health experts joined an advocacy meeting today, January 22, to review the progress of a cross-border health and nutrition initiative in the Joykals Union.
The meeting focused on the Mutual Learning for Improving Health and Nutrition Scenario project, implemented by Efforts for Rural Advancement (ERA). Funded by the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC), the project facilitates knowledge sharing between Bangladesh and Nepal to improve the health of marginalized communities. Medical experts from Nepal, including Dr. Sunima Karmacharya and Public Health Officer Sheetal Sakia, shared insights into improving maternal and child nutrition.
Chaired by Joykals UP Chairman Abdul Basit Sujan, the session emphasized integrating international best practices with local administrative support.
Speakers, including Shantiganj Upazila Youth Development Officer Sandwip Biswas and Press Club General Secretary Sohel Talukder, highlighted the need for sustainable nutrition programs for backward populations.
ERA Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Md. Fazlul Karim moderated the event, which brought together local Union Parishad members and administrative staff to discuss future implementation strategies for the Joykals area
