Party leaders and activists have accused central BNP figure Shammi Akhtar of fostering division within the party by making anti-party remarks and suggestive posts after failing to secure BNP's nomination for the Habiganj-4 (Madhabpur-Chunarughat) constituency.

They argue that while there may be difficulties if the nomination is not granted, it is essential to communicate with the party's policymakers according to organizational rules. However, Shammi Akhtar's public negative comments are adversely affecting the party's unity, campaign efforts, and the perceptions of general voters. They contend that her ongoing remarks exemplify a clear breach of party discipline. According to party sources, Shammi Akhtar had shown interest in contesting for the Habiganj-4 constituency in this election.

Nevertheless, after thorough consideration, the BNP ultimately awarded the nomination to former district BNP president Syed Md. Faisal. Shammi Akhtar's displeasure was evident immediately following the announcement of the nomination. Initially, he posted on Facebook - "Shh!", and the following day he used more severe language - "You traitor!".

Leaders and activists assert that these comments were directed specifically at the party's policymakers. In the meantime, he has been vocally expressing his frustration regarding the party's decisions on various talk shows, creating an awkward situation for the party. Leaders and activists believe that his conduct is conveying a negative message about the BNP nationwide and is also raising doubts among ordinary voters in the field.

Madhabpur Upazila BNP President Shamsul Islam Kamal stated - It is our organizational duty to respect whoever the party nominates. However, Shammi Akhtar is behaving as if he is campaigning against the party. This is entirely unacceptable. The tide is now shifting in favor of the rice sheaf. At this moment, negative remarks are obstructing our campaign. Those who are damaging the party must be controlled. Upazila BNP General Secretary Hamidur Rahman Hamdu stated,"He is evidently disseminating propaganda aimed at the party's top leadership. This is causing confusion among the leaders and activists. To safeguard the party, it is essential to take organizational measures against him immediately. Any delay could lead to even more severe consequences."

Chunarughat Upazila Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Abu Naeem Md. Halim remarked that party Chairperson Begum Khaleda and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have granted party nomination to Syed Md. Faisal for the Habiganj-4 constituency after thorough consideration and analysis. Under his leadership, the party leaders and activists of Chunarughat Madhabpur are tirelessly working to secure the victory of the paddy sheesh. At this juncture, it is inappropriate to challenge the central leadership and create confusion.
