Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged US President Donald Trump to avoid escalating regional turmoil also emphasizing that ongoing disputes can be resolved through dialogue and the implementation of a recently agreed memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Speaking in Tehran on Saturday, Pezeshkian stated that Iran does not seek war but will firmly defend its territory against any aggression. "It is in the interest of the country, the region and the world that Trump does not create turmoil and that Israel does not cause insecurity" he said. He also called for greater unity among Islamic nations to counter Israeli efforts to divide them.

The remarks follow the US-Israeli conflict with Iran that began on February 28. In June, Iran and the US reached a 14-point MoU mediated by Pakistan and Qatar to end hostilities and open a 60-day negotiation window. The agreement addresses lifting the US naval blockade, easing sanctions, releasing Iran's frozen assets and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran insists Washington must fulfill its commitments before the Strait is fully reopened.

Domestically, Pezeshkian assured citizens that maintaining industrial production during the upcoming winter is a "red line." He promised that any necessary cuts to gas, electricity or water would target government offices first with shielding everyday citizens and manufacturing facilities from the burden. Urging public cooperation also the president reaffirmed that foreign pressure would never force the Iranian nation to surrender.
