Gold prices have fallen again in Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) cutting the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 7,115 per bhori.
Under the latest decision, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 240,636 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The new price came into effect at 10:00am on Saturday (August 29).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Saturday.

The latest reduction comes amid continued fluctuations in the domestic gold market.
Silver Prices Also Cut
BAJUS has also reduced silver prices.

Previously, 22-carat silver was priced at Tk 470 per gram, meaning the price has fallen by Tk 15 per gram.
VAT Included in Listed Price
BAJUS said VAT is already included in the announced selling prices. Therefore, jewellery retailers cannot charge customers an additional VAT separately.
However, making and labour charges will be added depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewellery.
The association also said its existing rules will remain in effect for the exchange, purchase and sale of gold and silver jewellery, excluding VAT, making charges and the cost of stones.
The newly announced prices will remain effective at jewellery shops across Bangladesh until BAJUS announces further changes.
