The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce the price of gold in the country's market. According to the new decision, the price of a 22-carat gold bar has been reduced by Tk 3,266 to Tk 2,28,031.
The new price came into effect from 10 am on Tuesday (October 13).
Bajus said that the decision to adjust gold prices has been taken due to the decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The decision to reduce the price of gold was taken at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of BAJUS on Tuesday. The matter was later announced in a notification signed by the committee's chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
According to the new price, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT in the domestic market has been reduced by Tk 3,266 to Tk 2,28,031. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by Tk 3,149 to Tk 2,17,767, the price of 18-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by Tk 2,682 to Tk 1,87,032, and the price of traditional gold per bhori has been reduced by Tk 2,158 to Tk 1,52,798.
Earlier, on October 9, the price of gold was increased in the country's market. At that time, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori, including VAT, was set at 231,297 taka, up by 2,216 taka per bhori. The price of a 21-carat gold bhori was set at 220,916 taka, up by 2,099 taka.
In addition, the price of one 18-carat gold piece of jewelry has been increased by Tk 1,808 to Tk 1,89,715. And the price of one 18-carat gold piece of jewelry made using traditional methods has been increased by Tk 1,458 to Tk 1,54,956.
Along with the reduction in the price of gold jewellery, the price of silver jewellery has also been reduced. The price of a 22-carat bhori silver jewellery, including VAT, has been reduced by Tk 117 to Tk 4,019. In addition, the price of a 21-carat bhori silver jewellery has been reduced by Tk 175 to Tk 4,966, the price of a 18-carat bhori silver jewellery has been reduced by Tk 117 to Tk 3,441 and the price of a traditional silver jewellery has been reduced by Tk 59 to Tk 2,624.
