Faridpur-3 MP Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf has called on people to set aside religious and social differences and work together to build the country and advance national development.
She said the country cannot move forward by dwelling on religious divisions and that everyone must work collectively to achieve development and progress.
Nayab Yusuf made the remarks as the chief guest at a reception for newly admitted Class XI students for the 2026–27 academic year at Faridpur Government Sarada Sundari Women's College on Thursday (September 24).
“We will no longer remain behind by dwelling on religious divisions. Never create divisions by looking for differences in religion or ethnicity. As a nation, we are far behind. We do not want to remain deprived of development,” she said.
“If we fall further behind because of these issues, we will have to return to a dark age. This is the time to build the country and pursue development. We want to build a beautiful country by spreading the light of knowledge among people,” she added.
Addressing the students, the MP said the younger generation has a crucial role in shaping the country's future. She urged them to contribute responsibly to national progress by embracing knowledge, education and humanitarian values.
She also called for collective efforts to advance the country's development.
The programme was chaired by Professor Abdullah Al Mateen, principal of Faridpur Government Sarada Sundari Women's College. District BNP member secretary AKM Kibria Swapan and college Vice Principal Professor Umme Habiba Sultana, among others, also spoke at the event.
Teachers, officials, employees and newly admitted Class XI students for the 2026–27 academic year attended the programme. The event included a ceremonial welcome for the new students, who were greeted with flowers.
Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf is the current MP for Faridpur-3, having been elected from the constituency in the 2026 national parliamentary election.
