Adarsha Library in Paikgacha distributed tree saplings among students and local residents as part of an initiative to encourage tree planting and environmental awareness.
The saplings were distributed on Saturday (September 19) at the library premises in Haridaskati among students from various educational institutions and residents of Haridhali Union in the upazila.
Fruit-bearing, forest and medicinal varieties of saplings were distributed during the programme.
Adarsha Library President Alhaj Hasan Uz Zaman presided over the event. Among those present were the library’s adviser Alhaj Abu Bakkar Fakir, Union Parishad member Sheikh Abdul Gafur, library General Secretary and founder Saidul Islam, Adarsha Foundation President Sheikh Momin Uddin, General Secretary Almun Hossain, Senior Vice-President Md Habibur Rahman and Vice-President Iqbal Hossain Bablu.
Habibullah Gazi, Maulana Lutfur Rahman, Alamgir Hossain, Enamul Ahmed, Baki Billah, Saifullah Fakir and Tayebur Rahman, along with other leaders of Adarsha Library and Foundation, also attended the programme.
Speakers said standing beside poor and disadvantaged people is a moral and social responsibility. They said such initiatives are driven by humanitarian values and contribute to the welfare of the community.
