Two children drowned while bathing in a pond beside their homes in South Sengram village of Mulgram Union in Chatmohar Upazila, Pabna, on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were Huzaifa Rahman, 7, son of Mujibur Rahman, and Mafuz, 6, son of Rubel Hossain, both residents of the village.
According to locals, the two children went to bathe in the pond owned by Jony Member, near their home, at around 3pm on Saturday. They drowned while bathing.
Family members began searching for them after they went missing and eventually found the bodies floating in the pond.
The incident cast a pall of grief over the area.
