Brazil Seeks Revenge as Japan Chases Historic World Cup Knockout Victory

Brazil and Japan are set to meet Monday in one of the most anticipated Round of 32 matches of the FIFA World Cup, with both teams pursuing significant milestones.

The match at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, carries added intrigue after Japan defeated Brazil in the teams' most recent meeting, a friendly played last October. Brazil will be looking to avenge that loss, while Japan hopes to build on the result and make World Cup history.

Japan has reached the World Cup knockout stage four times but has never advanced beyond its opening knockout match. A victory over five-time world champion Brazil would give the Samurai Blue their first-ever knockout win at the tournament.
