Three mild earthquakes struck northeastern Indian states bordering Bangladesh in quick succession early Monday morning. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) of India, the tremors occurred within a span of one hour between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM.
The first quake, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, struck the Kangpokpi area of Manipur at 4:13 AM Bangladesh time, with its epicenter located 59 kilometers below the surface. Just five minutes later, at 4:18 AM, a second earthquake of 3.0 magnitude hit the border region of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan at a shallow depth of 7 kilometers.
The third tremor, a 2.9 magnitude quake, was recorded at 5:05 AM in the West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, a state directly adjacent to Bangladesh. This final shock originated 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
Due to the low intensity of the tremors, authorities have reported no casualties or structural damage in the affected regions.
