Three leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami were injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees in Ulipur upazila on Monday afternoon. One of the victims is in critical condition and has been moved to Rangpur for better treatment.

The incident occurred in Birhim village of Bajra Union while the group was traveling by motorcycle to attend a party program.

Witnesses said a swarm of bees suddenly descended upon the men as they were riding. The victims—Bajra Union Jamaat Secretary Samiul Islam (35), Ulama Department President Firoz Hossain (37), and activist Tozammel Miah (47)—managed to stop the bike and seek shelter in a nearby house.

Local residents rushed to the scene and used fire and smoke to drive the bees away, eventually rescuing the three men.

The victims were taken to the local health complex for emergency care. Dr. Farhana Binte Faruk, Resident Medical Officer (RMO), confirmed that Tozammel Miah’s condition is serious after suffering approximately 40 stings. He was immediately referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced care. The other two victims received primary treatment and are currently stable.
