


The National Consumer Rights Protection Department fined three food establishments in Tangail a total of Tk.1 lakh for using banned Keora water, storing stale food and preparing food in unhygienic conditions.
Tangail Assistant Director Asaduzzaman Rumel led the raid on Bora Kalibari Road and Park Bazar in the city on Monday.
Gopal Mishtanna Bhandar on Bora Kalibari Road was fined Tk.70,000 for altering the expiry date on its yogurt and producing yogurt and desserts in unhygienic conditions. Sri Krishna Vegetarian Restaurant was fined Tk.20,000 for using banned Keora water in food and storing stale items. Adi Induti Yogurt House was fined Tk.10,000 for preparing food in an unhygienic environment.
The fines were imposed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. Rumel said such operations will continue to ensure safe food for consumers.
