


Twenty-one helpless and unemployed women in Kaliganj, Lalmonirhat received sewing machines and certificates after completing a three-month training program funded by the Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF). The distribution took place Monday afternoon at the Pragati Tushbhandar Federation.
Separately with using its own funding, Pragati Tushbhandar Federation distributed free fruit, forest and medicinal tree saplings to 250 school students.
Ismail Hossain, Chairman of Pragati Tushbhandar Federation presided over the ceremony held at the organization's auditorium. He said the Bangladesh NGO Foundation has long worked toward women's development and its initiatives to promote self-reliance have already brought hope to many. He added that with joint efforts from the government and local organizations also the hardships faced by underprivileged women can be significantly reduced.
Upazila Social Service Officer Sukanta Sarkar attended as chief guest while Nur Islam Ahmed and several others were present as special guests.
