A total of 277 senior assistant secretaries in Bangladesh’s administration have been promoted to the rank of deputy secretary, according to two separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (August 17).
Under the first notification, 262 officials were promoted and appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Deputy Secretary, at the Ministry of Public Administration.
The notification said that if an official’s office or workplace has changed since the workplace mentioned in the promotion order was issued, the official must submit a joining report mentioning the name and address of the current workplace.
The ministry also reserved the right to amend or cancel the promotion order if any adverse or contradictory information regarding a promoted official emerges later.
The promoted officials may submit their joining reports either directly or online to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration via the designated email address.
A second notification promoted 15 officials serving at various Bangladesh missions abroad to the rank of deputy secretary.
According to the notification, the relevant administrative ministries will issue orders upgrading the officials’ pay scales for their deputation posts in accordance with a Ministry of Public Administration order dated March 24, 2014.
After the upgraded posts are formally approved, the promoted officials will join their new positions and submit their joining reports to the Ministry of Public Administration through their respective controlling authorities.
The promoted officials will become eligible for the salary and allowances applicable to the upgraded positions from the date they join their new posts.
However, for foreign allowances and entertainment allowances, the rates prescribed for the officials’ original positions at their respective embassies or missions will remain applicable.
The upgraded pay scale will remain in effect until the position becomes vacant due to transfer or another administrative reason.
