Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman said an investigation committee will be formed, including international experts, to examine the causes behind the measles outbreak and the vaccine shortage.
He made the statement during a briefing on government activities at the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 12).
Zahed Ur Rahman said the government will review the overall situation, including the measles outbreak and the current vaccine supply crisis. He confirmed that the Prime Minister has been informed, and a high-level investigation committee with both local and international experts will be formed.
He said, “More than four hundred children have died due to measles. This is a serious issue. The committee will investigate why the vaccine shortage occurred and whether there was any negligence in vaccine distribution or administration.”
He added that if any wrongdoing is found, those responsible will face punishment. The government, he said, also plans to strengthen measles treatment facilities.
He further informed that fuel supply across the country remains stable and there is no fuel crisis.
