

The government has announced a three-day holiday from October 20 to 22 for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja.
October 17, which falls on a Saturday, will remain a working day for government offices.
With October 22 being declared a holiday, government employees will enjoy a continuous five-day break from October 20 to 24, including the intervening weekend.
The government has also declared November 7 a general holiday on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat on Monday. The Cabinet Division confirmed the decisions in a press release.
According to the decisions, the proposal to reschedule public holidays and holidays granted by executive order for Sharadiya Durga Puja 2026 was approved.
Under the revised schedule, the Durga Puja holiday will run from October 20 to 22, while government offices will remain open on October 17.
November 7 will be observed as a general holiday every year as National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The day will be observed as a ‘Class A’ day under the Cabinet Division’s circular on the observance of national and international days.
