World Teachers' Day Marked in Kalia With Rally and Discussion

World Teachers' Day was observed in Kalia, Narail on Monday through a rally and discussion meeting organized by the Upazila administration and the Education Department.

Aligning with this year’s theme, "Stand with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession with enhancing status and shaping the future" the event began with a colorful rally from the Upazila Parishad premises. Teachers with government officials and local citizens participated in the rally.

A discussion highlighting the dignity, rights and core responsibilities of educators followed on the premises. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Jinnatul Islam, Upazila BNP General Secretary S.M. Wahiduzzaman Milu, Academic Supervisor M.M. Sarafat Hossain and local teachers attended the meeting.

Speakers emphasized that teachers play an indispensable role in shaping a knowledgeable, ethical and patriotic nation. They called for ensuring proper professional respect, a safe working environment and continuous skill development for educators.

Recalling the history of the day, speakers noted that World Teachers' Day has been observed annually on October 5 since 1994, commemorating the 1966 UNESCO/ILO recommendation on teacher status.

UNO Jinnatul Islam stated that the observance serves as a vital platform to reaffirm the societal importance of the teaching profession in guiding future generations.
