


Three people died and one was critically injured when a speeding BMW lost control and plunged off a bridge on Mumbai's Coastal Road early Sunday morning.
The tragic accident occurred around 5:20 am as the black BMW was traveling from Marine Drive toward Haji Ali. Authorities stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle which smashed through a boundary wall and a signboard before falling off the bridge. The massive impact crushed the car's roof and completely destroyed its front end.
Emergency responders rushed all four occupants to Nair Hospital. Doctors declared three individuals dead on arrival. Two of the victims were identified as Shanay Gajjal (21) and Dhirya Seth (17) while the third remains an unidentified 25-year-old man. A fourth occupan also an unidentified 20-year-old man is currently in critical condition in the hospital's trauma ward.
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal crash.
This devastating incident raises fresh concerns about road safety and speeding on the newly opened coastal route. Just weeks earlier on September 3, police filed charges against the drivers of several luxury supercars for reckless driving and racing inside the Coastal Road tunnel also endangering public safety.
