Following their domestic success during Eid-ul-Azha, three major Bangladeshi films—Rockstar, Raid, and Malik—have expanded into the international market. The films are currently playing in theaters across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
'Rockstar' Expands to North America and Europe
Directed by Azman Russo, Rockstar chronicles the rise, success, and personal struggles of a musician. Starring Shakib Khan opposite Sabila Noor and Tanzia Mithila, the musical film is currently screening in 41 theaters across North America and Europe. Swapna Scarecrow is managing its international distribution.
'Raid' Captivates Australian Audiences
Mezbaur Rahman Suman’s Raid premiered in Sydney and Melbourne on June 5, with upcoming screenings in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra distributed by Screen Excop and Desi Events. Set against a backdrop of rural folk realities, the film follows Sadhu (Mostafizur Noor Imran), a young man who attempts to abandon his mentally unstable wife (Nazifa Tushi) in a remote area, only for her to mysteriously find her way back. The story is a gripping exploration of human relationships, guilt, responsibility, and love.
'Malik' Gears Up for Oceania Premiere
The third Eid release, Malik, directed by Saif Chandan, will screen in Bankstown, New South Wales, on June 13 and 14 via Bangaz Films. Advance tickets are already available. The action-drama stars Arifin Shuvo and Bidya Sinha Mim, with Shuvo scheduled to attend the special Australian screening in person.
Industry insiders expect this international rollout to significantly boost the global presence of Bangladeshi cinema.
