Following their private London wedding on May 31, Grammy-winning pop star Dua Lipa, 30, and actor Callum Turner, 36, are hosting a grand two-day wedding celebration on the Italian island of Sicily.
Festivities begin this Friday across the Sicilian capital of Palermo and the neighboring town of Bagheria, according to the news agency AFP.
The couple, who vacationed in Palermo last summer, were spotted Friday morning at the five-star Villa Ezia. The hotel is entirely booked for the occasion. Meanwhile, Italy’s ANSA news agency reports that the 90-meter luxury yacht Nero has anchored in Palermo’s port, reportedly to transport guests along the coast to Bagheria.
Organizers have remained tight-lipped about the itinerary. Local sources indicate that staff attending the Palermo events were required to sign strict confidentiality agreements. However, rumors suggest an exclusive 300-person guest list—potentially including music legend Elton John—and that Lipa has prepared up to 26 different outfits for the weekend.
The high-profile event has prompted municipal adjustments. Two squares in Palermo’s historic center have been closed to traffic to manage paparazzi and prevent public chaos. Additionally, the city’s Gallery of Modern Art will close to the general public at 2:00 p.m. on Friday to accommodate a private tour for the wedding guests.
The main ceremony will take place Saturday at Villa Valguarnera, an 18th-century baroque estate in Bagheria. The historic venue, which hosted the 2020 wedding of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, is frequently used for film productions, including the upcoming Netflix miniseries The Leopard.
To ensure privacy and safety, the city of Bagheria has ordered the square in front of the villa closed to traffic starting at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
Bagheria Mayor Filippo Tripoli noted the influx of international media and confirmed the event is boosting the local economy, as regional chefs and florists have been hired for the celebrations. Though not invited to the wedding himself, Mayor Tripoli warmly welcomed the couple.
"She is an international star," Tripoli told AFP. "Some have called her the new Madonna. Maybe it is not the time to say that yet, but she is undoubtedly extraordinary."
