Global crude oil prices slightly declined on Thursday despite escalating military tensions in the Middle East. While the US-Iran conflict intensifies immediate supply concerns have eased as oil tankers continue successfully navigating alternative routes out of the region.

As of 7:10 am Bangladesh time (01:10 GMT) on Thursday, July 30, Brent crude futures dropped by $1.29 or 1.42%, to $89.45 per barrel. Similarly US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude slipped by 56 cents or 0.66%, resting at $83.90 a barrel.

According to market analysts the ongoing movement of commodity vessels has temporarily reassured traders. This cooling comes immediately after a massive spike; during the previous trading session Brent surged by 7.91% and WTI by 6.56%—one of the sharpest single-day jumps seen during the five-month conflict.

The extreme price volatility reflects a market reacting rapidly to both geopolitical headlines and actual supply flows. Just a day prior to Wednesday’s surge oil prices had plummeted by roughly 5% following a brief pause in hostilities. While alternative shipping channels currently prevent a total supply chokehold, experts warn that prolonged disruptions to key maritime routes will keep global fuel markets highly unstable.
