


Gold prices have risen again in Bangladesh, with the price of 22-karat gold increasing by Tk 5,482 per bhori to Tk 246,110.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new prices in a notice on Saturday morning. The revised rates took effect at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.
BAJUS said the increase followed a rise in the price of Tejabi gold, or pure gold, in the local market.
New Gold Prices
Including VAT, the price per bhori (11.664 grams) is now:
The new prices will remain in effect at jewelry stores across Bangladesh until BAJUS announces further changes.
Labor charges for gold jewelry will be added based on the design and quality of the item.
BAJUS also said VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewelry, so retailers cannot charge customers an additional VAT. Existing BAJUS rules will continue to apply to jewelry exchanges and purchases, excluding applicable VAT, labor charges and the value of stones.
Gold Prices Have Changed 106 Times This Year
BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on Aug. 20, when the price of 22-karat gold rose by Tk 3,849 to Tk 240,628 per bhori.
At that time, 21-karat gold was priced at Tk 229,781 per bhori, 18-karat gold at Tk 197,355, and traditional-method gold at Tk 161,196.
Gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 106 times so far this year. Prices have increased 54 times, decreased 51 times and undergone one VAT-related adjustment.
In 2025, BAJUS adjusted gold prices 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 decreases.
