


The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another cut in gold prices in the local market. Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has dropped by Tk 4,374 per bhori to Tk 2,38,121.
BAJUS announced the revised prices in a notification issued on Saturday morning (May 16). The new rates took effect from 10:00am on Saturday.
According to BAJUS, the price adjustment was made due to a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Under the new rates, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 2,38,121 per bhori (11.664 grams). The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 2,27,331, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 1,94,847 per bhori. Traditional gold has been priced at Tk 1,58,689.
The previous adjustment was made on May 15, when the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 2,216 to Tk 2,42,495 per bhori.
At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 2,31,472, 18-carat at Tk 1,98,405, and traditional gold at Tk 1,61,605.
So far this year, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 65 times. Among these, prices increased 35 times and decreased 30 times.
In 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times in total, including 64 increases and 29 reductions.
