


The Venice branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) recently celebrated the 48th founding anniversary of the party with a comprehensive discussion and exchange meeting in the historic Italian city.
Held at a restaurant hall near the Mestre city center, the event was presided over by Venice BNP President Abdul Aziz Selim. The program was jointly conducted by General Secretary Irfan Master along with Joint Secretaries Mannan and Fakhrul Islam.
The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a solemn one-minute silence observed in tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War. Special prayers were subsequently offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and good health for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Addressing the gathering, BNP leaders emphasized the critical need for organizational unity, democratic values and dynamic expatriate engagement. Speakers noted that the party has long struggled for the rights and democratic framework of the Bangladeshi people also urging expatriate members to remain united, put aside personal differences and work collectively for the greater interests of the organization. They also called upon the diaspora to stay vocal regarding the democratic rights of citizens back home while upholding the political ideals of Ziaur Rahman.
The meeting was attended by a large cross-section of leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations. Key attendees included Chief Advisor Rafiquzzaman Thakur, Senior Vice-President Abdul Jabbar Majhi, Vice-Presidents Farooq Sheikh, Sheikh Abdul Jalil, Saiful Islam Bhutta, Limon Ahmed, Anwar Hossain, Habib Sikdar and Yunus Miah.
Other notable participants included Joint Secretaries Abdul Halim Alam, Farooq Malat and Publicity Secretary Mithun Majhi alongside Jubo Dal President Akbar Khan, Mizanur Rahman, Nirob Peda, Sharif Howlader, Abdur Rob Bepari, Niamul Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, Mostafa Mridha, Akhtar Mollah, Nazmul Khan, Amir Hussain and Shamim Haque.
The gathering generated significant enthusiasm among local party workers and concluded with a communal dinner for all attending members and supporters.
