


Two children drowned in separate incidents after falling into ponds beside their homes in Bhola on Monday afternoon.
The deceased were Md Abdullah, 3, son of Md Shafik of Ward No. 5 in Bapta Union under Bhola Sadar upazila, and Abdur Rahman, 2, son of Md Suman of Ward No. 5 in Alinagar Union of the same upazila.
According to relatives and local residents, Abdullah was playing in the yard while his mother and other family members were busy with household chores.
At one point, he reportedly fell into a pond beside the family home. After failing to find him for some time, family members searched the pond and eventually rescued him.
They rushed Abdullah to Bhola 250-Bed General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
In the other incident, Abdur Rahman reportedly left the house unnoticed and fell into a pond beside the home.
Neighbours later saw the child in the pond and quickly rescued him. Family members and neighbours then took him to Bhola 250-Bed General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Bhola Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Monirul Islam confirmed the incidents.
He said police were sent to the scene after receiving the news. Separate cases of unnatural death have been filed at Bhola Model Police Station in connection with the two incidents.
