Lalmohan Reporters Unity Forms New Committee, Jasim Jony Named President

The Lalmohan Reporters Unity has formed a new executive committee for a two-year term, with Daily Jugantor correspondent Jasim Jony elected president and Daily Kalbela correspondent Zahid Dulal general secretary.

Daily Naya Diganta correspondent M.R. Parvez has been elected organising secretary.

The new committee was formed during the organisation’s annual general meeting held at the Lalmohan Reporters Unity office on Monday (September 7). The meeting was chaired by outgoing president Amzad Hossain Khan.

As the previous committee’s tenure had expired, Amzad Hossain Khan formally dissolved it during the meeting.

The members then elected the president, general secretary and organising secretary through a combination of consensus and voting. It was also decided that the full committee would be formed at a subsequent meeting.

Newly elected president Jasim Jony said Lalmohan Reporters Unity is an organisation of professional journalists.

“Protecting the rights and dignity of journalists and making the organisation’s activities more dynamic will be our main goals,” he said.

General Secretary Zahid Dulal said the new committee would work to improve journalists’ professional skills while maintaining mutual goodwill and unity among members.

“We will work with the cooperation of all members to make the Reporters Unity a more organised and effective organisation,” he said.

He added that the new leadership wants to build the organisation into a strong, united and journalist-friendly platform while promoting objective journalism and protecting the professional dignity of journalists.

Leaders of various social and professional organisations in Lalmohan, along with local journalists, congratulated the newly elected committee.

They also assured the new leadership of their full cooperation in carrying out the organisation’s activities in the coming days.
