Sultan Ali Allana the Chairman of HBL and Muhammad Nassir Salim the President & CEO arrived in Dhaka this week for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening Bangladesh's economic ties with key global markets.

The trip includes meetings with senior policymakers, regulators and business leaders, focusing on strengthening trade links between Bangladesh and HBL's markets across South Asia, China also the Middle East and Africa.

The visit also marks 50 years of HBL's presence in Bangladesh where the bank has played a major role in supporting foreign trade over five decades.

The timing aligns with Bangladesh's push to attract foreign investment and expand trade particularly along the emerging China–Middle East–South Asia corridor.

HBL Bangladesh now offers RMB/CNY account services for clients. The bank is among only three institutions from South Asia and the MENA region authorized for end-to-end RMB intermediation in China, allowing it to support cross-border trade and work directly with major Chinese state enterprises and financial institutions.

Allana has chaired HBL's board since February 2004 while Salim became President & CEO in March 2024. The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development holds a 56.58% stake and management control of the bank.
