Rising global tensions have triggered another price hike in the local gold market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, bringing the new rate to Tk 2,50,193.
The price adjustment, announced on Wednesday, April 15, became effective immediately at 10:00 AM. This revised rate remains the standard for today’s market, Tuesday, April 21.
According to BAJUS, the decision follows a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi) in the local market. Under the new pricing structure:
22-carat gold: Tk 2,50,193 per bhori (11.664 grams)
21-carat gold: Tk 2,38,820 per bhori
18-carat gold: Tk 2,04,703 per bhori
The association last revised gold prices on April 9, when rates were briefly lowered before this latest surge.
