


Nearly 7,000 small and marginal farmers in Raipur Upazila received free agricultural inputs on Friday under the government’s 2025-26 Agricultural Incentive Program.
The Upazila Agricultural Extension Department (DAE) launched the distribution at the Upazila Ground at 11 a.m. Laxmipur-2 Member of Parliament Abul Khair Bhuiyan attended as the chief guest, with Raipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mehedi Hasan Kausar presiding over the event.
According to local DAE officials, 6,930 farmers received seeds and fertilizers for Aman paddy, summer vegetables, and hybrid peppers. The aid packages also included fruit and lemon saplings, organic fertilizers, and bamboo poles. Additionally, 10,450 saplings and seeds were distributed to local farmers and students to cultivate an estimated 542 hectares of land.
In his address, MP Abul Khair Bhuiyan emphasized the government's commitment to modernizing the sector. "This initiative fulfills our election pledge to build a technology-driven agricultural system," he said. He also highlighted the BNP's historical focus on agriculture, noting past farmer loan exemptions and Tk 12,000 crore in subsidies, policies he attributed to the vision of the late President Ziaur Rahman.
The incentive program aims to boost regional crop production and ensure food security. The event was also attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Majedul Islam, local political figures including BNP leaders Nazmul Islam Mithu and Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, government officials, journalists, and the beneficiary farmers.
