


A tree plantation program was inaugurated on the Upazila Parishad premises on Saturday afternoon. Organised by the Upazila Administration and the Forest Department, the initiative is part of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's national campaign to plant 250 million trees over five years.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam launched the program by planting a sapling next to the parishad pond.
Speaking at the event, the UNO emphasized that tree plantation is vital to combating climate change and maintaining ecological balance. He urged every citizen to plant at least one tree and ensure its proper care.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nabila Ferdous, Upazila Engineer NAM Sultanul Imam, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman, and Upazila BNP leaders Sadequl Islam, Shakil Javed, and Rafiqul Islam Gama were present, among other local officials.
