Pabna Motorcycle-Pickup Crash Kills College Student

A college student was killed and his cousin critically injured when their motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup truck in the Tarabaria area of Pabna Sadar Upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sajjad, 22, son of Rentu Mondal, a resident of Sadullahpur village under Ataikula Police Station in Pabna. His injured cousin, Zulfikar, 25, son of Siraj Mondal, hails from the same village.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Manik Hossain of the Pabna Sadar Police Station, the incident occurred around 2:00 PM near the Tarabaria market. The two cousins were traveling by motorcycle when a speeding pickup truck coming from the opposite direction crashed into them. The impact killed Sajjad on the spot.

Local residents rushed to the scene, rescued a severely injured Zulfikar, and initially admitted him to the orthopedics department of the Pabna 250-bed General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated and became critical, attending doctors transferred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Tariqul Islam confirmed the fatality. He stated that law enforcement officials handed the body over to the victim’s family without an autopsy, as the family formally requested to skip post-mortem procedures and declined to pursue any immediate legal action regarding the accident.
