


Shaheda Ahmed (50), the principal of Dhaka Oxbridge International School, passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment for severe burns sustained in a gas cylinder leak.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, at her family home in Sreepur, Gazipur, where she was spending the Eid holidays. According to family members, the fire broke out in the kitchen due to a leak in the gas cylinder and rapidly spread throughout the house.
Shaheda was initially rushed to Al Hera Hospital at Mauna Chowrasta. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka. Hospital sources confirmed that approximately 55% of her body was burnt. Despite being placed on life support, she succumbed to her injuries on March 29.
Her husband, Jasim Uddin, President of the Gazipur High School Managing Committee, confirmed her death.
Sreepur Fire Service Inspector Nurul Karim stated that two units responded to the emergency and extinguished the flames. While the fire service managed the site, relatives had already transported the victim to the hospital. Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nasir Ahmed noted that while the police were not initially notified, they are now conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
