Seven trainee journalists have been appointed as associate members of the Patuakhali Science and Technology University Journalists’ Association (PSTUJA).

The appointments were approved at the association’s general meeting held on January 20, following a majority decision of the current executive committee.

According to PSTUJA, the selections were made after assessing the candidates’ interest in journalism, professional competence, regular involvement, dedication, and commitment to the organisation.

The newly appointed associate members are: Md Shafiullah (Daily Deshchitra), Mehedi Hasan Sagar (Insight Dhaka), Masuda Akter Rifa (Publician Today), Riazul Islam (Daily Desher Kotha), Mosammat Nafisa Yasmin (BD Times), Al Rafiuzzaman (Daily Ajker Satya Prokash), and Jisan Ahmed Tipu (Daily Desh News BD).

PSTUJA General Secretary Sabbir Hossain said the nominations were made through a democratic process based on the committee’s majority opinion.

“The selected candidates have demonstrated competence, sincerity, and responsibility, which made them suitable for this recognition,” he said.

He also congratulated the new members and expressed hope that they would contribute to strengthening ethical and professional standards in campus journalism.
