


Promising Kurigram singer Smriti Jannat is currently fighting for her life at Evercare Specialized Hospital in Rangpur following a severe road accident. Her family faces an acute financial crisis but she needed urgently medical treatment on the verge of being halted.
The incident occurred late on September 23 when Smriti was returning home on a motorcycle after performing at a cultural program in Bhurungamari Upazila. At around 12:30 AM, her motorcycle collided head-on with a trolley in the Bhogdanga Math-er Par area of Kurigram Sadar. Both Smriti and her younger brother Rakibul Islam, who was driving, sustained severe injuries.
Locals rushed them to Kurigram Sadar Hospital. Given her critical state, doctors referred Smriti to Rangpur for advanced treatment. Physicians report that her right leg was shattered in four places, both arms were fractured and she suffered severe facial lacerations. Multiple emergency surgeries are required to prevent permanent disability.
Smriti Jannat the daughter of day-laborer Shahidul Islam from Dakbangla Para was the primary breadwinner for her family through her musical performances.
