Paikgacha Fosiar Rahman Women's College in Khulna has launched a comprehensive cleanliness and dengue awareness drive across its campus on Wednesday morning with addressing the area's deteriorating dengue situation.
Organized under the slogan "Keep our own premises clean; let us all stay healthy" the campaign aims to eliminate Aedes mosquito breeding sites on college grounds while educating students, faculty and guardians on vector-borne disease prevention.
The program was formally inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Abdul Majid, a prominent physician and Convener of the Upazila BNP. Acting Principal Utpal Kumar Bain presided over the inaugural ceremony with Assistant Professor Shahidul Islam moderating the discussion. Municipal BNP President Aslam Parvez and faculty members across various departments also actively participated in the event.
In his address, Dr. Abdul Majid warned that dengue cases are escalating daily throughout Paikgacha. He stressed that institutional cleanliness initiatives also combined with individual responsibility to maintain clean household surroundings are essential to halt the spread of the virus.
Following the ceremony, college staff and student volunteers thoroughly cleaned the college premises, clearing stagnant water and garbage accumulation to ensure a safer learning environment.
