Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a direct appeal to American citizens and urging them to vote out US President Donald Trump’s allies in the upcoming November 3 congressional elections. The statement coincides with the withdrawal of US military forces from their final bases in neighboring Iraq a move celebrated by Tehran.
In a 26-page letter published on Tuesday, the IRGC called on US voters to use their democratic power to remove "evil, deceitful and violent politicians" and end military interventions abroad. While unlikely to sway American voters directly, analysts note the message highlights vulnerabilities for Trump and the Republican Party, particularly public dissatisfaction over inflation and foreign conflict. A recent poll indicated that only 17% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of living costs while just 34% support military strikes on Iran.
The ongoing seven-month conflict between the US and Iran launched alongside Israel has driven up global energy costs and destabilized the Middle East. Meanwhile Qatar continues diplomatic mediation efforts to end the hostilities even as President Trump maintains that Iran will soon surrender.
The final US troop departure from Iraq fulfills a withdrawal agreement established in 2024 also ending a 23-year military presence that began with the 2003 invasion toppling Saddam Hussein.
