A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death near Road No. 4 of Wireless Colony in the Khulshi area of Chattogram city around midnight on Tuesday. Police have detained a suspect, identified as Kamrul in connection with the murder.
The victim, Hridoy lived in the locality and supported his family by selling vegetables on the roadside alongside his visually impaired father.
According to Abdur Rahim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station an acquaintance called Hridoy out of his home while he was having dinner with his family. Shortly after he stepped outside, his family members were informed that he had been critically stabbed.
Locals and family members rushed Hridoy to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police launched an immediate drive in the area following the incident and detained Kamrul. "We are interrogating the detainee and conducting further investigations to establish the motive behind the murder and identify if others were involved" said OC Abdur Rahim.
