Police have arrested 15 people following a clash between two groups over control of an area in Bakalia, Chattogram.
The clash took place in front of Morshed Tower on Syed Shah Road at around 10:30pm on Sunday, September 27.
According to police, the two groups became involved in a confrontation over establishing dominance in the area. During the clash, the participants threw bricks and stones and vandalised the windows of CNG-run auto-rickshaws travelling along the road.
The incident created a situation that threatened public safety and property and raised concerns about possible acts of vandalism.
After receiving information about the clash, a patrol team from Bakalia Police Station quickly reached the scene and brought the situation under control.
Aminur Rashid, Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police and additionally responsible for public relations, said legal action against those involved was underway.
He added that police operations were continuing to arrest other people allegedly involved in the incident.
