The European Union on Monday imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and 17 entities involved in the systematic deportation also forced transfer and ideological indoctrination of Ukrainian children to Russia and occupied territories.
The European Council reported that over 20,500 Ukrainian children have been forcibly transferred since the conflict began also calling the actions a grave breach of international law aimed at erasing Ukrainian identity.
Key entities sanctioned include the Moscow City Tourism Committee, youth recreation companies and sports camps in Russia and occupied regions accused of cultural reorientation and militarized education. Specially the North Korean state-operated Songdowon International Children's Camp was also listed for hosting deported children to promote pro-Russian narratives.
Individual targets include Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for hosting deported children in regional camps along with several education, sports and tourism ministers in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories.
Sanctions impose immediate asset freezes with prohibition of EU funds and travel bans prohibiting entry or transit through EU member states.
