A madrasa teacher was killed after a motorcycle he was riding collided with a bus of Dola Paribahan in the Pona Bus Stand area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj.

The deceased was identified as Maulana Kazi Ashrafuzzaman Faruki Liton (48) a resident of Palpara village under Gobindapur Union of Muksudpur upazila. He was a senior teacher at Surpi Shalinabaks Dakhil Madrasa.

The accident occurred at around 6:45pm on Friday in the Pona Bus Stand area. He sustained critical injuries in the collision and was initially provided medical assistance by local people.

As his condition deteriorated and he was taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

According to local sources, Liton was travelling by motorcycle through the Pona Bus Stand area when the collision with a Dola Paribahan bus took place. He suffered serious injuries in the accident.

News of his death spread in his locality, casting a shadow of grief among his family members, relatives, colleagues, students and local residents. His death also caused grief among the teachers and students of Surpi Shalinabaks Dakhil Madrasa where he had been working as a teacher for a long time.

Local residents said the Pona Bus Stand area is a busy road where different types of vehicles operate regularly. However, the exact circumstances of the accident and whether negligence by either party contributed to the collision could not be immediately confirmed.

The statement of the relevant law enforcement authorities could not be obtained immediately. Further details may emerge once their statement is available.
