Gazipur Job Fair Draws 39,200 Applications

A job fair organized by Bdjobs drew thousands of job seekers in Gazipur on Saturday, with 39,200 applications and registrations submitted for employment opportunities.

The fair was held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the PTI auditorium in Gazipur city. Large crowds gathered both inside and outside the venue, with job seekers arriving from Gazipur and neighboring districts.

Some applicants were looking for their first job, while others were seeking better salaries and career opportunities.

Sharmin Akter Lubna, who completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College, said the fair allowed applicants to apply to multiple companies in one place.

Applicants could scan QR codes displayed by participating companies and submit their applications online. The organizers also arranged practice interviews for new job seekers.

Suman Mia, who traveled from Tangail, said he was invited to a practice interview after registering online. He said the experience helped him understand the types of questions asked in job interviews and increased his confidence.

Another applicant, Mamunur Rashid of Konabari in Gazipur, said he applied to three companies at the fair. He appreciated the opportunity to speak directly with human resources officials and gain interview experience.

Bdjobs Marketing and Sales Director Prakash Roy Chowdhury said 39,200 candidates registered or submitted applications at the fair.

Of them, about 500 new job seekers took part in practice interviews conducted by representatives of participating employers across nine interview boards.

The practice interviews were designed to help first-time applicants understand how job interviews work and what types of questions employers typically ask, he said.

A total of 52 employers and eight training institutions participated in the fair. Participating companies will later shortlist candidates based on their recruitment needs and qualifications before making hiring decisions.

Roy Chowdhury said Bdjobs has been organizing job fairs for 22 years, with events held in different parts of the country throughout the year.

The company plans to hold similar fairs in Cox’s Bazar on Sept. 10, Kushtia in October and Khulna in November.
