National University, Ovibash Technical Training Institute Sign MoU to Boost Student Skills

Bangladesh’s National University and Ovibash Technical Training Institute (OTTI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen students’ professional and technical skills, align academic programs with industry needs and expand employment opportunities.

National University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah signed the agreement on behalf of the university, while OTTI Managing Director Maleka Parvin Moli signed on behalf of the training institute.

The agreement will provide National University students with access to market-oriented professional and technical training. The two institutions will also work together to update academic curricula based on current and emerging industry needs.

Training opportunities will include Japanese language, caregiving, information technology, digital marketing, beautification and hospitality, among other fields. Students who successfully complete the training will receive certification.

The partnership will also support internships and apprenticeships to give students practical experience. The two institutions will explore potential employment opportunities for trained students, helping them develop workplace skills alongside their academic knowledge.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Amanullah said students need to be equipped with skills that match the needs of the labor market.

“If we create opportunities for students to develop skills based on industry demand, they will be able to compete in both domestic and international labor markets,” he said.

He said National University would strengthen industry-academia partnerships to expand skills development and employment opportunities for its students.

The institutions also plan to conduct joint research, seminars, workshops and development programs on changing labor-market needs, skills requirements and employment. The partnership is expected to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and industry.

Among those present at the ceremony were National University Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain; Director of the Department of Physical Education and Culture Mohammad Shafiul Karim; Director of Internal Audit Md. Jasim Uddin; Director of the International Desk Raj Bin Kasem; Communications Expert Gautam Barua; Coordinator of the Multi-Language Learning Institute Md. Saiful Islam Shaheen; and OTTI Director Tamanna Rahman.
