Anti-drug rallies and street meetings were held simultaneously in four police areas of Lakshmipur on Saturday as part of an initiative to protect young people from drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
The programs were organized by the Lakshmipur District Police on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 22, under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Tarek.
Separate rallies and street meetings were held under Lakshmipur Sadar Model, Raipur, Chandraganj and Kamalnagar police stations.
Officers in charge Wahid Parvez of Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station, Nizam Uddin of Raipur Police Station, Abdur Rab of Chandraganj Police Station and Farid Uddin of Kamalnagar Police Station participated, along with the respective circle officers and other police personnel.
Local elected representatives, teachers, students, parents, community members and other concerned citizens also joined the rallies.
Participants carried banners and placards bearing anti-drug slogans and marched along major roads before gathering at designated locations for the street meetings.
Speakers discussed the dangers of drug abuse, its harmful effects on families and communities, and the role of citizens alongside law enforcement in preventing drug-related problems.
They said drug abuse harms not only individuals but also their families and society as a whole. They stressed that effective prevention requires stronger law enforcement as well as public awareness and coordinated efforts by families, educational institutions and local communities.
Organizers said similar anti-drug activities would continue in the future.
