This year's BPL spectators in Chattogram are not able to enjoy it sitting on the field. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to end the tournament at two venues. As a result, this year's BPL will not be held at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chittagong. BPL Governing Council Member Secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu told the media, "We are sorry to the spectators and management of Chattogram. This time, matches have to be organized at both venues."
Earlier, there were plans to organize the BPL at three venues - Sylhet, Chittagong and Mirpur. However, in the new plan, Sylhet and Dhaka will be the main venues. The matches will continue at the Sylhet Stadium until January 12, after which the Dhaka phase will start from January 15. The final match will be held on January 23.
However, some changes have been made due to mourning. A three-day state mourning was declared on December 30 following the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Two matches scheduled for that day in Sylhet have been postponed. According to the new schedule, Sylhet Titans vs. Chattogram Royals and Dhaka Capitals vs. Rangpur Riders will be played in Sylhet on January 4.
All matches in the Chattogram phase will also be held in Sylhet this time. Rajshahi Warriors are currently at the top of the points table with 4 points.
