Students from Ideal College and Dhaka College clashed again on the streets of Dhaka on Thursday, briefly disrupting traffic in the Science Laboratory area.

The confrontation began around 11:30 a.m., leading to chases and counter-chases between rival groups, said Mohammad Ayub, officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station.

Police deployed additional personnel to the area to restore order. Officers dispersed the students and escorted them back to their respective campuses.

During the operation, police fired several tear gas shells to break up the groups.

The clashes forced a temporary halt in traffic along the busy stretch of road between Science Laboratory and New Market for nearly half an hour.

“By around noon, the situation was under control, and traffic returned to normal,” Ayub said.
