Unidentified Woman's Body Recovered from Karnaphuli River

Police recovered the body of an unidentified young woman wrapped in a sack, from the Karnaphuli River near PDB Ghat on Saturday evening.

Locals spotted the floating sack around 5:00 PM and immediately alerted the Sadarghat Naval Police and Karnaphuli Police. Units from both departments arrived at the scene and safely retrieved the body by 8:00 PM.

Authorities estimate the woman was between 25 and 30 years old. Due to prolonged submersion in the river the body was severely decomposed making immediate identification and fingerprint collection impossible.

Sadarghat Naval Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rouf stated that although the victim was found concealed in a sack there were no visible injury marks on her body. The remains have been sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

"Investigations are actively underway to identify the deceased and uncover the circumstances of the incident. We will be able to confirm the exact cause of death once we receive the official autopsy report," OC Rouf added.
