


At least five people were killed and several others injured when a Narail Express passenger bus collided with a broken-down pickup truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhanga, Faridpur.
The fatal crash occurred in the Swadi area around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday (July 11). Following the collision, an angry mob set the bus on fire, completely destroying the vehicle.
Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Helal Uddin stated that the Khulna-bound bus from Dhaka rammed into the stationary pickup, causing immediate casualties at the scene.
Highway Police, the Fire Service, and local residents promptly rescued the injured, transporting them to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex for urgent care.
"We have confirmed five deaths so far," OC Helal said. "Efforts are currently underway to identify the victims and investigate the exact cause of the accident."
The incident caused a temporary disruption on the highway, but police have since intervened to restore normal traffic flow.
