Police arrested a 30-year-old man Ashiqul Islam, with 50,000 Yaba pills in the Bakalia area of Chattogram city early Tuesday.

The arrest took place near the Shaheed Bashruzzaman Golchattar area around 4:45 AM. Ashiqul, son of Babar Ali, hails from Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj district.

Bakalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Solaiman confirmed that the operation was conducted based on a tip-off. Officers intercepted Ashiqul in front of the police box at Notun Bridge, where they recovered the drugs from his possession.

A case has been filed against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act. Following initial interrogation, he was produced before a court.
