Law enforcement officials have arrested Osman Gani alias Mona (35), listed as a top terror suspect and accused in 18 cases, during a joint operation in Hathazari, Chattogram.

He was detained on Sunday (April 26) evening from a building in Chikandandi Union. The operation was conducted by the District Detective Branch (DB) and local police.

According to a press release issued on Monday (April 27), officers recovered a cache of weapons from his possession. These include a foreign-made pistol with a magazine, three single-barrel shotguns, 11 rounds of pistol ammunition, several rifle bullets, 17 shotgun cartridges, a chapati, a switchgear knife, Tk 51,000 in cash, and multiple mobile phones.

Police said Mona admitted during initial interrogation that he was involved in illegal arms trading. He also provided information about alleged involvement in organised criminal activities, including the collection and distribution of weapons across different areas.

Based on his statements, authorities identified two absconding suspects—Hridoy (30) and Raju (32)—as allegedly linked to the network.

A case under the Arms Act has been filed against him with Hathazari Model Police Station. Officials confirmed that he faces 18 cases, including charges related to murder, robbery, drugs, and illegal weapons.
